Pastillas de Leche

Pastillas are sweet chewy candies made of milk.
It is one of Philippines' native delicacy...
and one of my favorites.
Welcome 2012 with sweetness in your home.
Enjoy! ☺

You will need:
  • 1½ cups fresh milk or evaporated milk
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 5 tablespoons full-cream powdered milk (I used Nido)
  • japanese paper or any colored paper for wrapping

Preparation:

Step 1: Combine milk and sugar in a saucepan; bring to a boil and stir constantly until it
              turns into a paste.

Step 2: Add butter and powdered milk. Mix thoroughly.

Step 3: Take the pan off the heat and transfer mixture to a separate bowl. Set aside until
pastillas are cool enough to touch but still warm.

Step 4: Divide pastillas into 20 pieces and roll into small cylinders.

Step 5: Roll each pastillas in sugar. Wrap each one in paper. Enjoy!
