Healthy Habit #4: Go easy on salt and salty sauces.
STEAMED CHICKEN with GINGER SAUCE
You will need:
- 6-8 pieces chicken breast
- 1 stalk Celery, chopped
- 3 pieces Pandan leaves
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 2 stalks Spring Onions
- Whole peppercorns
- 5 pieces Calamansi
for the Sauce:
- 3 tablespoon Peanut Oil (vegetable oil or Corn oil will do)
- 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
- 3 tablespoon Ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon Garlic, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon Onion, finely chopped
Preparation:
Step 1: Combine celery leaves, Pandan leaves, Peppercorns, Salt,
Spring onions, and Calamansi juice. Rub all over the
chicken pieces.
Step 2: Steam the chicken for an hour or until tender.
Step 3: Prepare the sauce by combining peanut oil, sesame oil,
ginger, garlic and onion.
Step 4: To serve, cut the chicken into serving portions and top
with ginger sauce.
